Going through my book from Rene Girard and others in that stream of thought, I came across an idea which piqued my interest in light of Christ the King Sunday: Kings are sacrifices in waiting.

Throughout time kings have been sacrificed in order to bring harmony to a culture. For instance, at the height of the French Revolution, the King and Queen were killed. While this did not stop the actions of the guillotine, after their deaths the Reign of Terror started its downward spiral.

While I do not have many concrete thoughts on this idea, I wonder what it means to call Christ King, if throughout time we have always sacrificed the king in order to bring harmony within society?
