Matthew 22:15-22

It was argued on Sunday that when Jesus asks the Herodians and Pharisees to show him a coin which to pay the taxes, Jesus is able to turn the question around on them. Because they are located within the walls of the temple (where graven images or other gods are forbidden) when they pull out coins with the image of Caesar (which is both a graven image and a pagan god) Jesus exposes these authorities as breaking some of the highest commandments of Torah.

I though that was an interesting tidbit of insight on this text which, according to John Fenton of Oxford University said, this is Matthew's great narrative of Jesus' understanding of the nature of God.
